Worry is a thief

Worry has never solved a single problem

Our lives have been turned upside down overnight. It seems like every aspect of our lives is unsettled, and for an unknown duration. The stakes are high, impacting our health and jobs. Uncertainty creates fear. What are we to do?

Much of our lives right now is out of our control. In times like this, we should be informed and focus our energy on what we can control. Take actions that will help and avoid those that aggravate your situation. Meditate. Pray. Laugh. Sing. Make music. Make memories with your family. Call your friends. FaceTime your parents with your kids. Ask them to share some fun stories of your childhood with your children. Reduce your news consumption and replace it with more meaningful content. I recommend The Andy Griffith Show.

Whatever you do, don’t worry. Never in the history of the world has worry solved a single problem. Not once. Worry accomplishes nothing productive but does damage the worrier. It holds him hostage to the fear, robs him of a clear head, and steals time for action. That action is the only way to change the future. Focus on what action you can take.
