Now Is Your Time to Shine
It’s dark. All of us feel the darkness of uncertainty. Fear grows in that darkness. Everybody is talking about it. You can’t escape it. The media is non-stop bad news and pessimism.
Now is the time to be a light in the darkness. I’m talking to me. I’m talking to you. There won’t be a better time to shine the light of your leadership.
My faith is important to me, and the Scripture calls Christians to be a light in this world. There is no better time to be a light than in this kind of darkness. If we can’t shine now, we can’t be a light.
This is not just true of faith. Shining a light in darkness is also a leadership calling. This kind of darkness is precisely the time when leaders should stand up and radiate light. Yes, we are living in the same darkness. We face the same uncertainty and wrestle with the same fear. But, be a light. Focus on actions within our control. Focus on moving forward, even if only in small steps. Focus forward. Focus on hope. Leaders are made for this time. We fight fear with hope and darkness with light.
We will get through this. Yes, it will be bumpy. Yes, there’s more bad news ahead before things turn. Yes, there will be financial challenges. Yes, more will lose their jobs. Yes, many will get sick. Sadly, far too many will lose their life. There’s more darkness ahead. That is the truth and there’s no value in pretending otherwise. Leader’s don’t ignore reality.
But, we will get through this. We will focus on action that influences our future. The best inside of us will win. We will help our neighbor. We will give generously. We will care. We will feed. We will encourage. The good inside us will rise to the occasion.
We will get through this. We are resilient. We are stubborn and never give up. As leaders, we will be a beacon of hope. We will stand up and shine the light of clarity in chaos, focus during distraction, and confidence in an unknown future.
If there ever was a time, if there ever will be a time, leaders, now is the time for us to be the light we are called to be. Today is your moment. This is your calling. Shine.
