We all make mistakes. Some of us may have a higher frequency of them. Others may make them in front of a larger audience. Some of the mistakes may be bigger than others. But we all make them.

Yes, we try to avoid them. We plan. We mitigate. We evaluate. We practice. But we still make mistakes. In that way, we are all the same.

What makes us different is how we respond to them. If we hold on to them by defending ourselves, we never move beyond them. We never grow.

Winston Churchill said, “If you simply take up the matter of defending a mistake, there will be no hope of improvement.”

Acknowledge it. Be honest with yourself and others. This will free you to learn from it and move on.
